Comilla is an important economic and commercial city in the southeastern part of Bangladesh. It is the third-largest city in the country in terms of population. Comilla's 'Ros Malai' has been awarded Geographical Indication (GI) status. Shalbon Vihar, Mainamati Ruins, and Dharmasagar Pond are some of the historical sites of the city. The city's strategic location, cultural heritage, and growing infrastructure have contributed to its significance in the country's landscape.

The economy here is based on agriculture. The city also has small and medium-scale industries including Khadi textiles, pharmaceutical factories, garments, and IT companies, which are contributing significantly to its economy. Comilla Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) is a prominent industrial zone in the country, established to promote export-oriented industries and foreign investment. It is contributing significantly to industrial output and employment generation.
