Joypurhat is another border-side district of Bangladesh. It was formerly a part of Bogra district. It was separated from Bogra in 1984 and established as a district in that year. The district consists of 5 upazilas, namely Joypurhat Sadar, Akkelpur, Kalai, Khetlal and Panchbibi. Joypurhat takes up two parliament seats, namely - Joypurhat-1 and Joypurhat-2.
Joypurhat District is mostly made up of five rivers. They are: Small Jamuna River traverses Joypurhat Sadar Upazila and Panchbibi Upazila. Tulsi Ganga River travels through Joypurhat Sadar Upazila, Khetlal Upazila and Akkelpur Upazila. The Chiri River flows through Panchbibi Upazila The Haraboti River flows through Panchbibi Upazila. Sree River flows through Chakbarkat Joypurhat Sadar Upazila.
Joypurhat is an area with a tropical climate. Joypurhat receives significantly more rainfall in the winter than in the summer. According to the Köppen climatic classification, the median annual temperature here is 25.4 °C, with an average annual rainfall of 1738 millimeters.
Joypurhat's economy depends mostly on seasonal crops such as rice, potato, wheat, onion, mango, jackfruit, and banana. It also produces a big amount of sugarcane and owns the country's major sugar factory, Joypurhat Sugar Mills Limited. There are also several enterprises, rice mills, and poultry farms in this neighborhood. It exports several agricultural items.
Hili land port is extremely close to Joypurhat district, therefore many individuals in this district undertake export-import business through this port, and almost all of the cars from this port pass through this district. This district is excellent for all types of businesses.
