Bounded by the Meghna River in the south and the Tripura Hills of India in the east, the district is rich in natural beauty. Muslin cloth and Chandramukhi sweets are very famous here.
This district is bordered by Kishoreganj and Habiganj districts to the north, Narsingdi and Narayanganj districts to the west, Comilla and Feni districts to the south, and Tripura state of India to the east. The upazilas of this district are - Brahmanbaria Sadar, Kasba, Akhaura, Ashuganj, Bancharampur, Vijaynagar, Nasirnagar, Nabinagar and Sarail upazilas.
The contribution and importance of the district to the national economy is immense. Titus, Salda, and Meghna gas fields are located in this district. These three gas fields supply about one-third of the country's total production. Besides, Ashuganj thermal power station is the second largest power generating station in the country. Ashuganj Fertilizer Factory is the largest urea fertilizer factory in the country. Garment industries, leather factories, textiles, iron mills, electricity, and natural gas establishments, and agriculture-based plants have created a lot of employment. The educational institutions and medical centers here are also standard.
