Chakaria Upazila is located in the Cox's Bazar District of southeastern Bangladesh. Covering an area of approximately 643.46 square kilometers, it is bordered by Lohagara Upazila on the north, Cox's Bazar Sadar and Ramu Upazilas on the south, the Bay of Bengal on the west, and Lama and Naikhongchhari Upazilas on the east. Chakaria is the largest upazila in the Cox's Bazar District in terms of area.
The upazila is divided into 18 unions and has a diverse population engaged in various occupations. Agriculture is a significant part of the local economy, with rice, betel nut, and salt being the primary crops. Fishing and salt production are notable activities due to its coastal location. The area is also known for its horticultural produce, including fruits like pineapple and watermelon.

Dhaka to Chakaria direct bus service is available. You can also travel to Chattogram via railway and then go to Chakaria from there. Direct water transportation is not available from or to Chakaria. We can say that Chakaria upazila is safe enough for local residents to live a peaceful life and the crime rate of this area is low as well.The Upazila is a great tourist attraction as well. So, the security facilities of the area are quite good anyway. Hospitals, Shopping Malls, Parks and Recreational Places - all are available in Chakaria.
