South Surma, Sylhet

South Surma is an important metropolitan police station in the Sylhet district of Bangladesh. It is under Sylhet City Corporation. The economic importance of the area is immense as it is well connected by river, land, and rail. The law and order situation in the area is normal and satisfactory. South Surma thana was formed in 1983 and the thana was converted into upazila in 2005.

Fenchuganj upazila and Balaganj upazila are in the south of this upazila, Golapganj upazila in the east, Biswanath upazila in the west. This upazila is located at a distance of only 09 km from Sylhet Sadar.
