Though there are many debates and theories, no one can verify exactly how the name Ishwarganj came about. Ishwarganj Upazila, or subdistrict, is located in the Mymensingh district of Bangladesh. Gouripur Upazila borders it in the north, Nandail Upazila in the south, Kendua Upazila of Netrokona District in the east, and Mymensingh Sadar and Trishal Upazilas in the west. The beautiful Norosunda River also flows through the upazila, even though many parts of it have dried up.
