Taltola might not be a huge area. Yet, it is filled with residences, residential hotels, services, government and non-government offices, trade and business centers, public service offices, financial institutions, and more. Because of all that, property and land prices in the area are very high. However, the area offers great access to transportation, living and working facilities, and other areas and amenities.

Anyone from other areas can access the Taltola using many points or circles. Some of them are Taltola Point, Jamtola Point, Mirza Jangal Road-Jallarpar Road, Nagori Circle, Jitu Miar Point, etc. It is also accessible from the Chadni Ghat or Kazir Bazar Road. With many roads connecting to Taltola, it offers broader transportation and communication facilities. Other local transport is also easily available in the area.

However, if you are traveling by river, you must arrive at Chandni Ghat first and then travel to Taltola by bus or other means of transportation. The closest railway station to Taltola is the Sylhet Railway Station.

Since land and property prices in Taltola are high, the house rents aren’t very affordable. However, you are likely to find suitable housing options in various price ranges. New housing and commercial places are also under development, along with many other upcoming projects.

The area's most notable educational institutions are Sylhet Central College and the Parkview Medical College and Hospital. Sylhet Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, District Primary Education Office, District Armed Services Board, etc., are also located in Taltola.

Other well-known and popular landmarks in Taltola are Taltola Point, Nandita Cinema Hall, Baitul Mamum Jame Mosjid, Judge Court Jame Mosjid, Surma Tower, and Keane Bridge Gate. Tourists and travelers can easily find accommodations in the area, as there are several residential hotels and boarding houses, such as Hotel Gulshan, Hill Town Hotel, Hotel Shahban, Royal Palm, etc.
