Mehendiganj is an upazila of Barisal district located in the southern region of Bangladesh known for its rich cultural heritage, agricultural economy and scenic beauty. Especially for its rivers and canals. Also known as Patarhat to local people. Its area is 435, 79 square kilometers. Hijla and Muladi upazilas to the north, Barisal Sadar and Bhola Sadar upazilas to the south, Bhola Sadar and Raipur upazilas to the east and Muladi and Barisal Sadar upazilas to the west.
Mehendiganj has a rich heritage of ancient Bengali culture and traditions. The place has been influenced by various rulers and dynasties over the centuries. The culture of Mehendiganj reflects the larger tradition of Barisal. Where folk music, Nithya and various festivals are celebrated.
