It has a lot of markets and shops, offering various products including textiles and machine parts.
A wide range of cultural events, festivals and fairs are hosted in Bangshal annually. These events hold a strong community spirit in the neighbourhood. Street food shops and local markets of Bangshal offer a diverse range of food and shopping experiences for residents and visitors.
Bangshal is well connected to the rest of the city through various modes of transportation available within and near the area. Public buses, rickshaws, CNGs, Ride sharing services, bridges, and even ferries and launches provide great transportation facilities through major roads, flyovers, bridges and the great Buriganga River.
Many historical landmarks, including legendary mosques, temples and shrines are responsible for the rich heritage of the Bangshal area. Some major administrations are based in this area, including Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense Head Quarter, Old Dhaka Central Jail, Bangladesh Veterinary Council etc.
