You must have heard of the famous Kapotakkho River, whose beauty captivated poet Michael Madhusudan Dutt. This famous river and the paternal home of this famous poet are located at the Sagardari Union of Keshabpur Upazila, which is located in the Jashore District of the Khulna Division. That is why the upazila welcomes people to its area through the Michael Madhusudan Gate.
The Keshabpur area guide shows that the entire upazila has a land area of 258.53 square kilometers. And the population is about 2,80,924 (Census 2022). Though there is no record of how the upazila got its name, it is said that it was named after a Landlord/Zamidar Keshab Chandra. The upazila is 32 kilometers from Jashore City and around 42 kilometers from Khulna City. It is bounded by Manirampur, Avaynagar, Dumuria, Kalaroa, and the Kapotakkho River.
Though it is located far from the city, Keshabpur is a diverse land with rural landscapes and urban localities. Most parts of the Upazila Sadar area are filled with small and tall buildings, residents, and businesses, while the rural parts are filled with agricultural lands, farms, tin-shaded homes, and ruins of the old times.
The entire upazila is filled with heritages and relics. Other than the Poet Michael Madhusudan Datt Memorial and Sagardari Pincin Spot in Madhupalli, many tourist spots exist in Keshabpur. One such spot is actor Dhiraj Bhattacharya's ancestral home, which is in dire need of renovation. Other spots include Mirzanagar Hammamkhana, Kashimpur-Dalijhara Buddhist Bihar, Baliadanga Temple, Morshina Baor and Park, etc.
Notable educational institutions of the upazila are the Sagardari Michael Madhusudan Institution, Keshabpur Government College, Keshabpur Govt. Pilot School & College, Abu Sharaf Sadek Govt Technical School and College, etc.
